Overview
The purpose of this project is to create a Poster design that highlights the main principles of visual design. The main focus of this design were on the Color Palette, use of Grid, as well as Contrast and Layout of the visual elements of the Design. This Poster acts as a promotional poster for the Album "Imaginal Disk" by Magdalena Bay designed to fit the abstract etherial theme of the album.

Project Goals
The goal in this project was to be able to create a visually pleasing poster design, that promotes a product to a user in a appealing way.
It was important throughout this design to balance the principles of visual design with the content of the poster, to create a design that is both appealing for people to look at while promoting a product.

Design Concepts
Grid
Grids in design are important for organizing content, and ensuring consistent alignment or visual balance across the design. The design of this poster was created with the support of a 7 by 12 grid, which was used to structure the content on the poster. The reason for this is to structure the text on the poster to make it flow naturally, and give the design a more structured appearance.

Color Scheme
In order to keep the design cohesive, I fist selected a color scheme and subsequent color palette to work with. To match the etherial/space theme of the album I decided to work with an analogous purple color palette to add to the harmonious feeling of the design. In addition to this I chose to work with mostly light colors of purple alongside dark black and grey colors to make the dynamic color decisions stand out as a distinct part of the posters design.

Contrast
Contrast is described as being 'noticeably different from something else when put in opposition' and is one of the most important ways to capture a viewers attention. To take advantage of this affect I made the foreground elements significantly smaller compared to the focal point (he disk) in the background. I did this both through use of design elements, like the house, as well as through the color palette, by having the bright purple and white colors oppose the dark background.

Retrospective
Completing this project allowed me to gain a deeper understanding of the Visual Design Principles, and creating designs with more intent and purpose behind why design choices were made, and design decisions are implemented into the design to create visually appealing marketing products.
